03 February 2012 - Prosport International's Craig Livingstone brokers dynamic adidas sponsorship for Investec South Africa National Women’s Hockey Team

adidas South Africa today announced a two year sponsorship of the Investec South Africa National Women’s Hockey Team ahead of their Olympic qualifying tournament in India. The deal was brokered by Prosport International's Craig Livingstone and will run for two years, adding further quality and enhancing performance of the squad.

The announcement follows a successful home series win against Spain which the home side won by 2 tests to 1.

“We are delighted to have a brand of adidas stature on board in our quest to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics. We are also pleased that this commitment is for a two year period. This bodes well for the sport which often doesn’t have the same level of support as other sports,” says Marissa Langeni, the CEO of the South African Hockey Association.

According to Gavin Cowley, the Marketing Director of adidas South Africa, the sponsorship is very important to the adidas brand. “adidas has a long tradition of working with top sports teams on a global level and we are delighted to be able to partner the Investec South Africa National Womens Hockey team with the latest technological product. Hockey is a true performance sport and therefore deserves product that mirrors this,” he says.

The sponsorship entails the supply of training and playing product to the team. Kate Woods and Lisa Deetlefs –the adidas sponsored players in the side- use the adidas hardware in form of hockey sticks. The adidas hockey product will come with the standard climacool technology that ensures players remain dry under heated conditions.

“We are delighted to be on par with our international counterparts who play in kit which has excellent fit, is modern and improves performance. With the demands of hockey as they are, technology is vital to ensure that players are comfortable while performing,” says Marsha Marescia, the captain of the Investec South Africa National Women’s Hockey team.

The team will receive their first drop of the new kit on the 15th of February 2012.
