Following a successful career at Glencore in Switzerland, Greg James returned to South Africa and founded the Sagitta Group, a diverse private equity company. His expertise includes financial management, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and business turnaround. Greg established the JAG Sports and Education Foundation in 2007 to create positive change in the lives of previously disadvantaged children in South Africa through sport and education. The Sagitta Group purchased a controlling stake in Prosport International in 2008.
After a decade of hands-on experience in the football field, including domestic, continental and international honours with Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana, Mike Makaab was appointed Managing Director of Prosport International in 2001. In the same year, he became South Africa’s’s first FIFA-licensed Football Agent.
Mike has represented some of the biggest names in South African and African football and overseen some of the continent’s biggest transfers between Africa and Europe. He is also a registered Rugby agent with SA Rugby and looks after the careers of a host of the country’s top players.
As Prosport International CEO, Mike is responsible for operational aspects and strategic direction and has overseen the company’s growth into one of the most respected sports marketing and management agencies in the Southern Hemisphere.
Gerhardi completed his articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and qualified as a Chartered Accountant CA (SA) in 2003. He joined the Sagitta Group as Financial Director in 2006. Amongst Gerhardi’s other responsibilities within the Sagitta Group, he is responsible for all financial and commercial affairs of the Group. Gerhardi further assists clients with their tax and financial planning, business start-up, evaluation and mentorship, post career planning and financial due diligence on business acquisitions.
Pashalis Tountouris is involved as a licensed football agent since 1999, as a director of Prosport International, which is the biggest football agency in Africa with European offices in the UK and in Greece. He is a graduate of American College Anatolia in Thessaloniki. He has got a Masters degree specialized in Sports Management from Middlesex University in London where he spent 4 years. His work is wide spread in most European countries since he has successfully transferred international football players from Greece and South Africa to many top European clubs.
Alban Newman is an ex-professional footballer and was one of Mike Makaab’s first clients at Prosport International. Today he is responsible for Prosport International's football operations in South Africa.
Eduard is responsible for all operational activities of Prosport’s Rugby Division. A SARU accredited agent, his roles include day to day management of clients, contract negotiations, sponsorships and endorsements, recruitment and scouting as well as maintaining an in depth knowledge of the global rugby market in terms of player movement and union requirements. He heads up and co ordinates a team of experts in various fields to ensure the best possible all round service to all our rugby clients.
